WELCOME TO WOODHOUSE PRIMARY SCHOOL
The ethos of the school is based on mutual respect and understanding and there is a calm positive approach where children are expected to be polite and behave well, are supported in this and respond well. All children are valued and are taught to value others and respect the religion and cultures of others. There is an effective policy of partnership with parents. These are strong features of the school and underpin our achievements and high standards.
Our school motto is "Committed to Excellence for all" and governors, the Head teacher and all staff constantly work to achieve this and support children to achieve their full potential in all aspects of school life.
Our recent OFSTED report in March 2009 judged the school as outstanding and described us a ‘Wonderful School!' Standards are well above the national average at the end of each Key Stage and progress from each Key Stage is very good. Children's personal well being and the ethos of the school were particularly stressed as outstanding and inspectors commented on the excellent behaviour and attitudes of the children and the outstanding PSHE and wider curriculum programme in school. We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children. Leadership was also judged as a significant strength of the school.
In June 2009, our School Improvement Partner described us as a school which 'consistently achieves very high standards over a number of years'. We have also been praised for our vibrant indoor and outdoor environment for children and the outstanding quality of teaching and learning. We are also named in the Chief Inspector's Report as one of the top 220 primary schools in England of the decade. In 2002 we were awarded the Quality Mark for our teaching of literacy and numeracy and this was successfully renewed in 2008. We have just recently been awarded 'Healthy Schools Status' in recognition of our commitment to ensure the health and happiness of every child.
We have wonderful staff who always manage to do that something extra which makes our school such a special place. Whilst placing high value on educational standards, we have fun with our children and Woodhouse is a stimulating and attractive school!
Our children respond well to our high expectations and work hard taking a pride in their achievements and their school. They are polite and courteous and these qualities are commented on by the many visitors we have to the school.
We are constantly seeking to improve and welcome any feedback.
We are very proud of our school and are always happy to welcome visitors. We hope you have found our website useful and we look forward to meeting you.
Best Wishes
Louise McArdle (Headteacher)
