Procedures regarding payment of School Dinners
- On a Monday morning please send in a sealed envelope your child's dinner money for the whole week. Please write the child's name, class and days that dinners are required with the amount written on also.
- Money for dinners must not be sent in on any other day except MONDAY. If any dinner money comes in after Monday of any week, we regret that we will have to return it to you and that week's dinners will not have been paid for. We appreciate that very occasionally there may be an emergency when the money does not come in on Monday. We will try and be understanding and accommodate you should this happen.
- I would appreciate all parents support in this matter and I am sure that if we all follow these procedures then the system will work much more smoothly for all parties concerned.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Dear Parents
Re: Parking outside Woodhouse Primary School
I am writing to you on behalf of the Governing Body of Woodhouse Primary School regarding the grave concerns I have about the parking situation on Nursery Road, outside Woodhouse Primary school, Davyhulme.
As a school, we have been very proactive in attempting to resolve the problem. We have taken a number of steps to try to encourage parents to park sensibly at a safe distance from the school or to walk or cycle to school. I would like to outline the number of measures we have taken to date since the beginning of the Academic year:
- Sent out a very strong letter to the parents explaining our concerns about the parking outside the school
- The Headteacher has patrolled outside the school to monitor the situation on a regular basis
- Contacted the police on a number of occasions to express our concerns
- The Head teacher and Community Support Officer have patrolled the area
- We have asked the police to do regular patrols and provide us with some cones to cordon off the area
- Met with Sophie Armstrong, Trafford's Travel Plan coordinator to discuss ways to raise awareness of this issue. She is coming into the school next week to do an assembly with the children about Road safety and Walking to school
- Begun to write our Travel plan to secure some funding with a view to purchasing a bicycle canopy
- Held a ‘Walk to School Week' to encourage more children and parents to walk to school
- Met regularly with concerned parents to discuss this issue.
Despite all these actions, the situation is getting worse. We have received numerous complaints from other concerned parents regarding vehicles speeding and parking illegally. We feel it is only a matter of time before a child is fatally wounded or injured. We would ask all parents to be considerate when dropping their children off at school so that the situation can be resolved. A copy of this letter has also been sent to Parking Services at Trafford Council. If any parents wish to write a letter to Trafford expressing their concerns this may encourage the council to give this matter their urgent attention.
Yours sincerely
Mrs M. Delaney
(Chair of Governors)
