WELCOME TO WOODHOUSE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Woodhouse is a happy school where everyone is valued and children, staff, parents and governors work together to achieve the best in all aspects of school life. We aim to reflect the principle of "Every Child Matters' in everything that we do.

Our school motto is 'Committed to Excellence' and this is not just a written statement but is an intrinsic part of our school ethos. Our success in this is reflected in being named as a Beacon School from 2000 to 2004 and in our OFSTED report 2000 which judged us a Very effective school' and in 2006 'good with outstanding features'. In June 2008, our School Improvement Partner described us as a school which 'consistently achieves very high standards over a number of years'. We have also been praised for our vibrant indoor and outdoor environment for children and outstanding quality of teaching and learning. We are also named in the Chief Inspector's Report as one of the top 220 primary schools in England of the decade. In 2002 we were awarded the Quality Mark for our teaching of literacy and numeracy and this was successfully renewed in 2005. We have just recently been awarded 'Healthy Schools Status' in recognition of our commitment to ensure the health and happiness of every child.

We have wonderful staff who always manage to do that something extra which makes our school such a special place. Whilst placing high value on educational standards, we have fun with our children and Woodhouse is a stimulating and attractive school!

Our children respond well to our high expectations and work hard taking a pride in their achievements and their school. They are polite and courteous and these qualities are commented on by the many visitors we have to the school.

We are constantly seeking to improve and welcome any feedback.

We are very proud of our school and are always happy to welcome visitors. We hope you have found our website useful and we look forward to meeting you.

Best Wishes

Louise McArdle (Headteacher)
